Dr. Harry Durbin

Rev. Dr. Harry D. Durbin, Sr. most recently served as the senior vice president for Faith and Health at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare from June 2013 through October 2017. He is a seasoned life coach, certified by Coach Training Alliance, and co-founder with Rick Kirchoff of the Clergy Coaching Network.  Primary areas of focus, in addition to coaching, have been in strengthening denominational relationships, creating missional alliances between faith and health and building bridges to the community. Under his direction, the Faith and Health mission has grown and diversified.  The Congregational Health Network (outreach ministry to faith communities) is a national model for partnering with communities to promote better health outcomes.  In May of 2015, MLH received accreditation for its outstanding Clinical Pastoral Education program.  New and progressive strides are also being made in the areas of behavioral health, ethics, and end-of-life planning.

Prior to joining Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Durbin was senior pastor of Collierville United Methodist Church for thirteen years. As an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, he has led five churches—four in Shelby County. From 2006 to 2011, he served on the Board of Directors of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, chairing the Faith and Health Committee for five of those years. He was nominated twice for the office of Bishop by the Memphis Conference.  He presently serves on the Boards of Wesley Housing, United Methodist Neighborhood Centers and The Center for Youth Ministry Training.

Durbin has many passions for ministry, including reconciliation activities, church growth, development of new facilities and connecting faith and health. He holds a BS from Union University, an M.Div. from Southern Seminary, and M.Ed. from University of Memphis, and a D.Min. from Columbia Theological Seminary. He was deeply committed to the MLH faith-based mission and promoted programming at every level that fused the ministry of faith and health.

He has been married for 42 years to Constance Ellis Durbin, who recently retired from her practice of child psychiatry. Harry and Connie are especially proud of their family, which includes daughter Amanda, son Harry, Jr., his wife Shannon, and their two children, Claire and Harrison.
